Still Waiting...Equal Pay Day!
Essence is no longer the magazine on my living room table these days but it is still very relevant for all things Black women related. When I read this article yesterday, disgusted---yet again (.66 cents to the $1). I am not surprised at all so let me just get back to learning this new fan-line dance (insert sigh!).

I think it is PARAMOUNT for us to first define what does "Belonging" mean in the workplace?
What words are synonymous to "Belonging" - member of, included, allied, associated, connected or linked
An employee may have a sense of "belonging" with their colleagues within their field of expertise/department but still feel disconnected within their department and the organization as a whole. Commonalities amongst like minds are easy waters to navigate but how do we promote and affirm "inclusive relationships" for employees?

1. Leadership-Driven Inclusion
We trained leaders on inclusive leadership practices, ensuring they actively listen, acknowledge diverse perspectives, and create psychologically safe environments.

Belonging begins with ACTIVELY listening and giving your peers an opportunity to be heard.
Weekly (monthly, or bi-monthly) half hour check-ins are a good start to allow team members to voice issues and concerns. Participants should journal "buzzwords" taken from what folks are talking about that spark a reaction in yourself to explore in a follow up gathering.
